Katherine is constantly striving to make the Gwinnett County taxpayer’s experience more convenient and accessible, and has been a leader in the effort to bring county services online.
She led the initiative to allow citizens to pay for their auto tags by credit card, with her office serving as a pilot for a statewide project to allow online tag renewals through the Department of Revenue.
The Gwinnett Tax Commissioner’s office was also the first of its kind to offer an interactive web site allowing taxpayers to pay their property taxes online by e-check. In 2007, the office designed and implemented a new independent website (www.gwinnetttaxcommissioner.com) allowing for credit card payments. In addition to being able to pay taxes online, users can also search property by name, address and/or parcel number to obtain information about individual parcels. Taxpayers can also pay taxes by phone through the interactive voice response system. This service, like the online services, is available 24 hours a day, seven day a week.
In another move to enhance customer convenience, in 2008 Katherine’s office began accepting homestead exemptions through the same website.
She will continue to seek out ways in which the customer experience can be even more simplified.
