Before Katherine took office, Gwinnett taxpayers were forced to endure all-day tag lines and poor customer service. The Tax Commissioner’s office had no accounting system, and taxpayer money sat in non-interest-bearing bank accounts. Katherine changed all that and more. She applied accounting principles, business models and operational efficiencies, literally reinventing the tax office.
Katherine was determined that the Tax Commisisoner's office would not be a typical government office. She planned to put her practical business experience to use in making the office more efficient, exceeding customer expectations in service, and putting together a professional workforce.
The results have been dramatic.
Delinquent collections were ramped up and continue to be at 99%.
Customer service is at an all-time high with customers responding with an 85% approval rating.
County residents frequently express that the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner's office has an excellent reputation, and have confirmed this by naming Katherine “Favorite Elected Official” in Gwinnett Magazine on several occasions.
